The Tahoe House Hotel has been lovingly restored to its original 19th century splendor. Built in 1859, in the heart of bustling Virginia City, the Hotel served as a kind of oasis for visitors - including a young Sam Clemens before he became Mark Twain.
The hotel features 14 rooms, a Carriage House suite, and a Garden Room. There is a Great Room with a high ceiling and a wonderful pot-belly stove where you can relax, have a drink, and visit with people from all corners of the world. This is the perfect place for weddings, parties, family reunions, seminars and business meetings. Each room in the hotel has its own bathroom and a luxurious antique bed with a wonderfully comfortable mattress. Although the rooms and halls are still alive with the sounds and memories of yesterday, there are also amazing modern conveniences: flush toilets, hot and cold running water, electricity, wireless internet access, catering for any size party, and a massage therapist.
We serve some great coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice in the morning with a choice of cerials, muffins, and fresh fruit. If you're lucky, Squeek, our world-famous piano player, will enchant you with some honky-tonk piano playing and Mark Twain (McAvoy Lane) may be seen wandering our halls at times. If you're into history, hiking, mountain and road bicycling, rock climbing or paragliding, we'll point you in the right direction and more then likely offer to go with you. Come and enjoy theold times and the new memories at Virginia City's Tahoe House Hotel. We're located in downtown Virginia City, 20 minutes from Reno and only 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe.
